
Ask yourself these questions:
Why do I want a greyhound?
Do I have enough time to spend with them?
Do I travel a lot and unable to take my greyhound with me?
If I marry, divorce, have children, change jobs......can I still care for my greyhound?
These are some of the questions that you need to ask yourself before filling out the adoption application. All too often, animals are cast aside at the first sign of trouble in a family. We at the adoption center want you to make very sure that you can make this lifetime commitment. It is very hard on these sensitive creatures when they are rejected and returned. We suggest you read Adopting the Retired Racing Greyhound by Cynthia Branigan before applying. It will either validate your decision to adopt a greyhound or change your mind. Either way, we all win when you are an educated adopter. The adoption process consists of completing an application, having references checked, having your current family vet interviewed, having one or more home visits and a meeting between the entire family and the adoption representative. It usually takes at least a week, sometimes longer. We ask that you respect our policies and be patient throughout our adoption process. Our primary objective is the safety and lifelong welfare of these hounds!
